What is solid tumor?

A tumor is growth of abnormal cells in the solid organs of the body such as breast , prostate and bones etc. When a person  has a solid tumor means tumor contains no liquid, no cyst.

There are two types of tumors BENIGN TUMOR and MALIGNANT TUMOR.

A tumor cannot be always cancerous  that kind of tumor is known as benign tumor.

A tumor that contains cancer cells is known as malignant cells.

 

TYPES OF BENIGN TUMOR

 

– Adenomas – This kind of cancer develops in glands epithelial tissue , covering glands organ

– Fibroids – Thin membranes which grow on the surface lining of any organs

– Hemangiomas – Tumor that forms where growth of blood vessels is excessive

– Lipomas- tumor of fat formed between the skin and underlying muscle , it is painless , rubbery , soft , touchable and movable . it grows on the arms, legs .

 

 

TYPES OF MALIGNANT TUMOR

 

– SARCOMAS

Type of cancer that grow in the connective tissue like nerves , bones muscles blood vessels. Due to radiation exposure, family history,weight loss and pain .

This can be cured by surgery , chemotherapy , radiation .

 

– CARCINOMAS

Tumor that are formed in epithelial cells and there cells are found in skin , glands and lumps of the organ.I develops in the lining of organs or skin.

 

– BLASTOMA

Tumor from the embryonic tissue found in the children is blastoma

 

– NEUROBLASTOMA

Type of cancer that originates in the tissues of adeneral glands in the abdomen

 

– WILMS TUMOR

This kind of cancer is mostly present in kidneys of children aged 3 to 4 yrs

 

– RETINOBLASTOMA

Tumor can be present in the eye of the child aged 2 years

 

– OSTEOSARCOMA

Tumor found in the bones of legs or arms

 

-HEPATOBLASTOMA

Cancer present in the liver of the infants is hepatoblastoma

 

SYMPTOMS

– frequent bruising

– nosebleed

– sleeping

– insomnia

– double vision

 

 

CAUSES

 

Cancer in the body could emerge in the solid organs of the body due to several factors such as family history, age, sedentary lifestyle, consuming tobacco, smoking , obesity or genetic disorders.

 

DIAGNOSIS

 

– ULTRASOUND

Scanning is done to see the  stage of cancer in the body and on which part of the body

– BIOSPY

A sample is taken from the affected part of the body or organ and taken for examination

– MRI

This is doen to see the detailed images of the cancer affected parts in the body

– CT SCAN

CT scan is doen to see the coloured images of the affected solid organ of the body in a 3d way

 

TREATMENT

 

– CHEMOTHERAPY

this therapy is given to prevent the cancer from spreading to other parts of the body

– SURGERY

A tumor is removed from the solid organ of the body through the process of surgery

–  RADIATION THERAPY

Removal of tumor from the body by giving radiations to kill cancer cells from the body

– IMMUNOTHERAPY

This therapy is done to increase the immune system of the body
