Generic Name:- Nelarabine

Manufacturer:- Novartis

Overview

Atriance injection, comprising Nelarabine, is an anti-cancer medication. It is used to treat certain types of Blood Cancers including leukemia and lymphoma. This medication belongs to a group of drugs known as antineoplastic agents. These agents are used to kill the cancerous cells in the body. Atriance (Nelarabine) is a chemotherapeutic drug. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, unless necessary.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of Atriance is Nelarabine. The compound is a prodrug of the cytotoxic deoxyguanosine analog 9-ß-D-arabinofuranosyl guanine. This compound is demethylated by adenosine deaminase to ara-G. The formulation is transported then into cells, where it starts to undergo three phosphorylation steps. This results in the production of ara-G triphosphate (ara-GTP). Ara-G converts to ara-G monophosphate (ara-GMP) in the first phosphorylation step. Ara-GMP is monophosphorylated by deoxyguanosine kinase and deoxycytidine kinase to ara-G diphosphate, and subsequently to the active ara-G triphosphate (ara-GTP). It exerts a pharmacological effect. Pre-clinical studies have shown that targeted T-cells possess marked sensitivity to the agent.
