Description
Erbitux 100mg Injection is an antineoplastic injection prescribed by the doctor to treat certain types of cancer, primarily squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) and colorectal cancer expressing EGFR. Erbitux 100mg Injection contains Cetuximab monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to the Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor that is responsible for blood vessel formation to supply nutrients to cancer cells. Blockage of EGFR leads to cancer cell growth inhibition.
Dosage And Administration
Erbitux 100mg Injection is administered intravenously (In Veins) by a doctor or an experienced nurse. It is advice not to self administer the injection on your own. For personalized dosage ask your doctor about the same. As Dosage is entirely based on the body surface area, type of cancer, its stage as well as patient's overall health.
Mechanism Of Action
Erbitux 100mg Injection contains Cetuximab monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to the Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor that inhibits receptor activation by natural ligands like EGF and blocking signaling pathways that facilitate tumour survival, proliferation, and metastasis. This action leads to reduced tumour growth, increased apoptosis, and enhanced sensitivity to therapies. Additionally, it promotes EGFR down-regulation and recruits immune cells for targeted cytotoxicity against tumours.
