Abiraterone acetate is the main ingredient of the Xbira 250mg tablet. It is converted in vivo to abiraterone, which is an androgen biosynthesis inhibitor. It inhibits 17α-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase (CYP17). This enzyme is expressed in testicular, adrenal, and prostatic tumor tissues. It is required for androgen biosynthesis. Xbira 250mg Tablet works by inhibiting the production of the hormone testosterone in the body. This can slow the growth of prostate cancer.
