Overview
Pomalid 4 mg (pomalidomide) is a targeted medicine treatment for adult patients who have relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, commonly administered along with dexamethasone. It helps the immune system fight cancer by killing abnormal cells and blocking the growth of blood vessels that feed tumors. In certain cases, it is also prescribed for Kaposi’s sarcoma. The medicine is taken orally once a day, with or without food, and capsules should never be opened or crushed. Since the medication may lead to fetal abnormalities, men and women must practice proper contraception to avoid any complications. Fatigue, fever, bone pain, muscle cramps, gastrointestinal problems, and loss of appetite are some of the common side effects. Frequent blood tests are needed to check the blood count, liver function, and renal function, since this medicine reduces the number of white blood cells.
