Vomiting, bad taste in the mouth, dry mouth, dizziness, headache, trouble in sleeping may occur.

USAGE OF ZEJULA

ZEJULA used for the maintenance treatment of ovary, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer. After certain chemotherapy medications are used .ZEJULA should be taken once in a day, which time is convenient for you. It is easy to carry. Take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit of it.

PRECAUTIONS OF ZEJULA 

This drug may cause dizziness, do not drive or use machinery after taking this medicine.

This medication may decrease your bone marrow function, that may lead to low number of blood cells.

• Increased pre-cancer risk 

• Cardiovascular effect.

  • Severe chest pain.

  • Blurry vision.

  • vomiting.

• Bone marrow suppression.

  • Shortness of breath.

  • Fatigue

  • Bleeding

Q1. What is ZEJULA used for?

ANS. It is used for the maintenance treatment of the adult patients suffering from certain cancers includes ovarian, breast, fallopian tube, pancreatic, prostate cancer.

Q2. How does ZEJULA work?

ANS. ZEJULA is a medication called PARP inhibitor . It targets some cancer cells and prevent them from repairing damage to the DNA. 

Q3. What is PARP inhibitor ?

ANS. They are developed for multiple indications, including the treatment of heritable cancers  (ovarian, breast, prostate etc.)

Q4. How do one should take ZEJULA?

ANS.  Take it as prescribed by the doctor. Take once in a day orally. Prefer to take this medicine in night it may reduce the cause of dizziness. DO NOT STOP taking zejula without taking your doctor permission. 

Q5. Who should consider ZEJULA?

ANS.  It is taken by women who is suffering from ovarian cancer, breast cancer, prostate    cancer, pancreatic cancer etc. The woman who has been previously treated with 2 or more courses of platinum - based chemotherapy.

Q6. What are the side effects of taking ZEJULA ?

Ans.  Common side effects :- vomiting, dizziness, fever, blood disorders, blurry vision, pale skin, red spots in skin, headache, irregular heart rate and pulse rate, fatigue, back pain, sore throat ,heart burn , weakness, high blood pressure, muscle pain , joint pain, anemia, constipation, bloating etc. Uncommon side effects :- Acidic stomach, loss of taste, trouble in sleeping, dry mouth , change in taste, rash, anxiety, runny or stuffy nose .etc.

Q7. What are the safety advice ?

Ans. Do not take without the medical prescription. It is not safe for pregnant women. Do not drive after taking the medicine. It may harm your liver and decrease your blood count. In case of facing severe side effect immediately contact to your doctor.

Ans. It is available in the strengths of 100mg and 300mg.

Q9.Is ZEJULA chemotherapy?

Ans. It is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of certain cancers  (ovarian, breast, prestate, pancreatic , fallopian tube) when the cancer comes back . It is used after the cancer has responded to treatment of platinum - based chemotherapy.

Ans. 24% of the women responded to ZEJULA and had tumours that reduced in size.it has shown some effective result in ovarian cancer.

Q11. Is it common to have high blood pressure while taking ZEJULA?

Ans . Yes, it is common to have high blood pressure during the treatment with ZEJULA .It can become serious. Consult your doctor in this condition, your doctor may temporarily or permanently stop, or change the dose.

Q12.How it is more harmful for pregnant women?

Ans. ZEJULA is unsafe during pregnancy it may cause definite risk to developing baby. However doctors rarely prescribed this medication in this condition.

Ans. It contains 159.4mg niraparib tosylate monohydrate equivalent to 100mg niraparib freebase as the active ingredient.

Ans. Th recommended dose of ZEJULA is three 100mg capsules once a day. Your doctor may customize your dose according to individual needs.
