The PMBJP is a scheme of the Government of India and provides all types of medicines at affordable prices. These generic medicines are sold at the Jan Aushadhi Kendras (shops) at a much lower price than their branded alternatives. Medicines available at the Jan Aushadhi shops are purchased by the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI) from manufacturers of required standards of quality. It includes more than 1900 medicines and 300+ surgical items.

Jan Aushadhi medicines are generics sold from Kiosks which are procured by the government.
