Osteoporosis is a common disease in which the bones become weak and are likely to fracture. It mostly occurs in women after menopause.
Zoledronic acid works by slowing down the cells called osteoclasts which is responsible for breaking down of the bone. Inside the osteoclasts, it blocks a key enzyme needed for their activity, making the cells weak and eventually causing them to die.
This process reducing bone breakage and allows bone to become stronger.
