Leucovorin Calcium 50mg injection is used to prevent the toxic effects of methotrexate when methotrexate is used in the treatment of certain types of cancer. 

Description

Leucovorin Calcium 50mg injection is also used in the treatment of anemia (low level of red blood cells in the body) which is caused by low levels of folic acid in the body.

It may also be used in treating colon cancer. ​

Side Effects

Leucovorin calcium 50mg injection has several side effects, which are:

Rash

Itching

Swelling

Severe dizziness

Breathing problem

Difficulty in swallowing

If the above-mentioned effects are seen in the patients, immediately consult with your doctor otherwise, it may affect overall health.

How To Use

  • Leucovorin calcium 5ml injection is given in the vein or muscle only by a professional doctor or nurse.
  • It should not be given in the spine.
  • Neecovorin 50mg injection is given every six hours or once a day or as per doctor's prescription until lab reports show it is no longer needed.

Alcohol
It is advisable not to consume alcohol while taking medicine.
Pregnancy
Do not take Leucovorin calcium injection without consulting the doctor, in case of pregnancy.
Breast Feeding

Driving
It is advisable not to drive or operate heavy machinery, you may feel dizzy as one of the side effects of the medicine.
