Afadel 40mg Tablet contains afatinib dimaleate as an active ingredient. It is used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) genes, and patients with metastatic, squamous NSCLC progressing after platinum-based chemotherapy.

How To Use

  • Afadel 40mg Tablet should not be chewed, opened, or crushed; it must be swallowed to increase the effectiveness of the drug.
  • It is an oral medication that is taken once a day, at the same time each day, before food.
  • One should wait for at least 3 hours before taking Afadel 40mg Tablet.

How It Works

Afadel 40mg Tablet helps the cancer cells stop their growth. It inhibits the ErbB family of proteins, which includes EGFR (also known as the epidermal growth factor receptor, or ErbB1, ErbB2, ErbB3, and ErbB4) and HER2.

Growth and proliferation of cancer cells can be stopped or slowed the growth of cancer. Changes in the proteins can alter the cell division and multiplication of cancer cells.

Safety Advice

Alcohol
Excessive alcohol consumption can decrease the immunity of the individual and weaken the liver function. However, moderate levels of alcohol do not interfere with the working of the Afadel 40 mg Tablet, as per the research
Pregnancy
The Afadel 40mg Tablet should be injected after consulting the doctor; during pregnancy, it is not suggested to take it routinely. Afadel 40mg Tablet can be injected in case of severe, life-threatening conditions. However, it may harm the unborn.
Breast Feeding
The Afadel 40 mg Tablet is considered unsafe to be taken while breastfeeding, as there is a chance that it may pass to the developing baby through the breast milk of the mother. It is generally considered unsafe, and there is no clear evidence found in the clinical data on how it harms the baby.
Driving
Driving after taking the Afadel 40 mg Tablet affects or interferes with driving ability or disturbs while operating machinery. With fever or dizziness, neurological effects can be seen after taking the capsule; avoid driving until you feel better.
Kidney
The Afadel 40 mg Tablet is considered unsafe for people with kidney problems. It can damage the kidneys. Tacrolimus, present in the capsule, is nephrotoxic.
Liver
The Afadel 40 mg Tablet is generally considered unsafe for people with mild to moderate liver disease. Although regular monitoring of the enzyme is required. The dose should be adjusted; take it with caution.
