Description
Afatin 20mg tablet is a prescription based medication used in the treatment of lung cancer. It is a monotherapy treatment, it is given alone without combining it with other anticancer drugs.
The medication contains Afatinib as an active ingredient, which works by blocking certain proteins that promote the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. The medicine is targeted therapy and often used in combination of treatment to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.
Additionally, it is not suitable for children under the age of 18.

Mechanism of the action
Afatin 20mg tablet works on EGFR protein, as the protein is responsible for the growth of abnormal cells and grow uncontrollably. This medicine blocks the EGFR protein and slows down the growth of cancer cells in the body.
This targeted therapy works well by directly targeting the tumor cells without damaging the healthy cells in the body as compared to traditional chemotherapy.
