Cronivir (Entecavir) is an antiviral drug used for the treatment of chronic (when the infection moves into the long-lasting stage) Hepatitis B virus. This medicine belongs to a class of drugs known as Hepatitis B virus nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Long-term Hepatitis B infection can cause liver damage. This medication helps to reduce the amount of virus in the body. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately. Do not change or stop the dose of this medicine without taking suggestions from your doctor. Avoid the consumption of alcohol while having treatment with this medicine.
Hepatitis B
Entecavir is an antiviral drug. It is a guanosine nucleoside analog with activity against HBV reverse transcriptase and is efficiently phosphorylated to the active triphosphate form. It is designed to selectively inhibit the Hepatitis B virus, blocking all three steps in the replication process. The effects of this medicine can be observed in 1.5 hours.
