Description
Lamivudine (Duovir):- A nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) and Hepatitis B (HBV) to disrupt viral DNA synthesis. It can form active metabolites when phosphorylated, that compete for incorporation into viral DNA.
Via DNA incorporation, lamivudine metabolites work to inhibit the activity of the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme and then act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis. Zidovudine (Duovir):- Works to inhibit the activity of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase by competing with its natural nucleotide counterpart thymidine triphosphate for incorporation into newly synthesized viral DNA.
It is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1). This compound is phosphorylated to active metabolites that compete for incorporation into viral DNA.
