Pharmacodynamics

Erlotinib is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor that targets a specific pathway in cancer cell growth. In cancers, EGFR is overexpressed or mutated, leading to uncontrolled growth. Erlotinib binds to EGFR, blocking these growth signals and inhibiting cancer cell proliferation. This medication can slow or halt tumor growth and is used for specific cancers like non-small cell lung cancer and also pancreatic cancer, where EGFR plays a key role.
