- Metformin is a biguanide that increases the body's tolerance to insulin, reduces the liver's synthesis of glucose, and slows down the intestines' absorption of glucose.
- Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors like voglibose prevent complex sugars from breaking down into simple sugars like glucose. As a result, this medicine prevents blood glucose levels from rising to extremely high levels immediately after meals.
