It is prescribed to treat certain types of cancer such as ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, and prostate cancer. Also It can be used to treat certain types of cancer in people with specific gene (BRCA) changes.

It works by inhibiting the action of specific enzyme that repairs damaged DNA in the cancer cells, resulting in their death. Close monitoring of blood cell count is necessary while having treatment with this medicine. Take it in the exact dosage prescribed by the doctor.
