Baricitinib Tablet 2mg is light pink, debossed with “Lilly” on one side and “2” on the other. Baricitinib Tablet 2mg is light pink, debossed with “Lilly” on one side and “4” on the other. Baricitinib Tablet 2mg helps in reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation in the joints.

Description

Baricitinib is a selective and reversible Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) and 2 (JAK2) inhibitor. Janus kinases belong to the tyrosine-protein kinase family.

They play a crucial role in the proinflammatory pathway signaling that is frequently over-activated in rheumatoid arthritis. By blocking the actions of JAK1/2, Baricitinib tablet 2mg works to disrupt the activation of downstream signaling molecules and proinflammatory mediators.

Baricitinib works by inhibiting IL-6-induced STAT3 phosphorylation. Baricitinib administration results in a dose-dependent inhibition of IL-6-induced STAT3 phosphorylation in whole blood from healthy subjects with maximal inhibition observed approximately 1 hour after dosing, which returned to near baseline by 24 hours.

Similar levels of inhibition were seen using either IL-6 or TPO as the stimulus.
