Overview
Tenvir EM (Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) tablet is an antiretroviral medication. It is used for the treatment of infection caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). This medication helps to delay the production of HIV infection and improves the quality of life. Tenvir EM tablet boosts your immune system to fight against infection and prevents the virus from multiplying. It increases the CD4 cell (white blood cells that protect against infection) count in your blood. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some serious side effects. If you experience any symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.
HIV
Emtricitabine (Tenvir EM):- a synthetic nucleoside analog of cytidine, is phosphorylated by cellular enzymes to form emtricitabine 5'-triphosphate. It inhibits the activity of the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) by competing with the natural substrate deoxycytidine 5'-triphosphate and by being incorporated into nascent viral DNA which results in chain termination. Emtricitabine is a weak inhibitor of mammalian DNA polymerase alpha, beta, epsilon, and mitochondrial DNA polymerase gamma.
Following are the possible side effects that can occur during your treatment with Tenvir EM. Contact your medical practitioner immediately if any of the above-mentioned side effects appear.
Fatigue
Sore throat
Swollen lymph nodes
Loss of appetite
