Tenvir EM (Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) tablet is an antiretroviral medication. It is used for the treatment of infection caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). This medication helps to delay the production of HIV infection and improves the quality of life. Tenvir EM tablet boost your immune system to fight against infection and prevents the virus from multiplying. It increases the CD4 cell (white blood cells that protect against infection) count in your blood. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some serious side effects. If you experience any symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.
Emtricitabine (Tenvir EM):- a synthetic nucleoside analog of cytidine, is phosphorylated by cellular enzymes to form emtricitabine 5'-triphosphate. It inhibits the activity of the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) by competing with the natural substrate deoxycytidine 5'-triphosphate and by being incorporated into nascent viral DNA which results in chain termination. Emtricitabine is a weak inhibitor of mammalian DNA polymerase alpha, beta, epsilon, and mitochondrial DNA polymerase gamma.
Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (Tenvir EM):- Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate diester analog of adenosine monophosphate. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate requires initial diester hydrolysis for conversion to tenofovir and subsequent phosphorylations by cellular enzymes to form tenofovir diphosphate. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate inhibits the activity of HIV-1 RT by competing with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine 5′-triphosphate and, after incorporation into DNA, by DNA chain termination. It is a weak inhibitor of mammalian DNA polymerases alpha, beta, and mitochondrial DNA polymerase gamma.
Tenvir EM tablet is a combination of two anti-HIV medicines: Emtricitabine and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. This medication is not a permanent cure for HIV infection. It only prevents the multiplication of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in human cells. It is important to take Tenvir EM tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
