  • Veenat 400 Tablet (Imatinib) is a medication that is most often prescribed for blood cancers such as chronic myeloid leukemia and acute lymphocytic leukemia, as well as gastrointestinal stromal tumors. It also helps in treating certain rare conditions like dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (a skin tumor) and aggressive systemic mastocytosis (a bone marrow disorder).
  • The tablet should be taken with food, at the same time each day, and only for as long as your doctor advises. Benefits may take weeks or months to appear, so it’s important not to stop the medicine without medical guidance. It contains Imatinib in 400mg.
  • Common side effects include swelling, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle cramps, joint or bone pain, rash, tiredness, and abdominal discomfort. Rapid weight gain should be reported to your doctor, and regular monitoring of blood counts and liver function is usually required. Because it can cause dizziness or blurred vision, avoid driving or tasks needing focus if these occur.

  • Swelling in the face, legs, ankles, or feet (edema)
  • Weight gain
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • Dry eyes or nasal inflammation
  • Changes in blood counts (low red and white blood cells)

  • Heart failure or abnormal heart rhythms
  • Liver problems, including liver failure

How To Use

  • Take Veenat 400mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not crush or chew. Swallow it as a whole tablet with a glass of water.
  • Do not take this medicine on an empty stomach. Take this tablet with or after food.

How It Works

Veenat 400 Tablet (Imatinib) is an anti-cancer medication. A protein enzyme, bcr-abl tyrosine kinase, responsible for the growth of abnormal proliferation of cancer cells.

This medicine inhibits the proliferation and induces apoptosis (planned cell death) in bcr-abl positive cells (cancer cells). This is how it works to stop or slow the spread of cancer.

The interaction of alcohol with this tablet is still unknown. It is advisable not to consume alcohol while taking Veenat 400mg tablet. It is advised to consult your doctor for further information.
Pregnancy
Veenat 400mg tablet is considered unsafe during pregnancy as it may cause harm to the developing fetus.
Breast Feeding
Veenat 400mg tablet is probably not safe if you're breastfeeding, as it may pass through breast milk and cause toxicity to the newborn.
Driving
It is advisable not to drive or operate heavy machinery, you may feel dizzy as one of the side effects of the medicine.
Kidney

Missed Doses

  • In case you miss your dose of Veenat 400 Tablet, skip that dose but resume the regular dosage routine.
