Description

Velakast is a combination of Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir, used to treat chronic (long-lasting) Hepatitis C Virus in adults. It slows the multiplication process of the virus and helps the immune system to fight against the infection. Velakast is a fixed dose tablet for oral administration. It is advised to take the dose everyday at the same time. It may help your liver to recover.

Pharmacodynamics

The effect of Sofosbuvir (Velakast) 400 mg (recommended dosage) and 1200 mg (three times the recommended dosage) on QTc interval was demonstrated in an active-controlled (moxifloxacin 400 mg) thorough QT trial. Sofosbuvir (Velakast) does not prolong QTc to any clinically relevant extent, at three times the recommended dose. The effect of Velpatasvir (Velakast) 500 mg (five times the recommended dosage) was demonstrated in an active-controlled (moxifloxacin 400 mg) thorough QT trial. Velpatasvir (Velakast) does not prolong QTc interval to any clinically relevant extent, at five times the recommended dose.

Ingredients

The active ingredient of Velakast is Sofosbuvir/Velpatasvir. The inactive ingredients are Titanium Dioxide IP and Brilliant Blue FCF, Polyethylene Glycol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Talc and Titanium Dioxide.

Velakast (Velpatasvir and Sofosbuvir) tablet is used in the treatment of chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection.
