Viraday Tablet

• Lactic acidosis
  
• Hepatic steatosis (fat accumulation in the liver)
  
• Immune reconstitution syndrome
  
• Increased lipase, creatinine kinase, amylase, and liver enzymes
  
• Liver toxicity
  
• Pneumonia
  
• Peripheral neuropathy (tingling/numbness in hands and feet)

Take Viraday exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the recommended dose and duration. Swallow the tablet whole without chewing, crushing, or breaking it, and make sure to take it on an empty stomach.

The mode of action of Viraday Tablet consists of three components that have combined effects against HIV multiplication. Efavirenz (600 mg) is an NNRTI (non‑nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor) that binds with the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase enzyme and inhibits its capability to convert the viral RNA to DNA.

Emtricitabine (200 mg) is an NRTI (nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor) whose role is to compete for binding sites on the enzyme with the nucleosides. It becomes activated in the cell and integrates into the DNA chain to make it terminate prematurely.In the same vein, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300 mg) is another NRTI that activates itself in the cell to integrate within the viral DNA chain to make it terminate prematurely.

If you forget to take a dose of Viraday Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. But if it’s nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular routine—never take two doses at once.
