Overview

Zidolam N tablet is a combination of three anti-HIV medicines: Lamivudine, Zidovudine, and Nevirapine. It is used for the treatment of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. This medication is not a permanent cure for HIV infection. It only prevents the multiplication of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in human cells. It is important to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some serious side effects. Close monitoring of liver and kidney function is required during treatment with this medication.

Pharmacodynamics

Lamivudine (Zidolam N):- A nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) and Hepatitis B (HBV) in order to disrupt viral DNA synthesis. It can form active metabolites when phosphorylated, that compete for incorporation into viral DNA. Via DNA incorporation, lamivudine metabolites work to inhibit the activity of the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme and act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis.

Zidovudine (Zidolam N):- Works to inhibit the activity of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase by competing with its natural nucleotide counterpart thymidine triphosphate for incorporation into newly synthesized viral DNA. It is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1). This compound is phosphorylated to active metabolites that compete for incorporation into viral DNA. They work to inhibit the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme competitively and then act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis.

Nevirapine (Zidolam N):- This compound is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1). HIV-2 RT and eukaryotic DNA polymerases (such as human DNA polymerases alpha, beta, or sigma) are not inhibited by nevirapine. It is only prescribed after the immune system has declined and infections have become evident.

Usage

Zidolam N tablet is a combination of three antiretroviral medications. This medication boosts your immune system to fight against infection and prevents the virus from multiplying. Zidolam N tablet increases the CD4 cell (white blood cells that protect against infection) count in your blood. It is advisable not to change your regular dosing schedule without taking suggestions from your doctor. The recommended dose of Zidolam N medicine is decided by a doctor according to your previous medical condition and response to the treatment. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.
