Boostrix 0.5 ml vaccine, which protects against three deadly diseases that are caused by bacteria, i.e., diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and pertussis (whooping cough). It is a Tdap vaccine. It is generally considered safe for people above the age of 10 years. Heat-treated or chemically deactivated toxins (toxoids) of the bacteria are used in the Boostrix 0.5 ml vaccine, which cannot cause disease but stimulate an immune response.

How It Works

Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine is used as a booster dose against the bacterial diseases pertussis, tetanus, and diphtheria for people 10 years or older. It is given into the deltoid muscle of the upper arm.

It is an intramuscular injection. Do not use the same injection or syringe for another vaccine, as there is are chance of interacting.

Always check the vial of vaccine before using it for discoloration or any kind of particulate matter, and shake well for uniform mixing of the product. Adults, adolescents, and pregnant women in 27 and 36 weeks of gestation can take Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine.

It should be given intravenously or subcutaneously, and stored at 2℃ to 8 ℃.

Safety Advice

Alcohol
Excessive alcohol consumption can decrease the immunity of the individual and weaken the liver function. However, moderate levels of alcohol do not interfere with the working of the Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine, as per the research.
Pregnancy
The Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine should be injected after consulting the doctor; during pregnancy, it is not suggested to take it routinely. The Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine is generally considered safe to take during pregnancy (between 27 and 36 weeks) so that newborns don't have pertussis. According to clinical research, the vaccine doesn’t affect the mother or fetus.
Breast Feeding
The Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine can be taken while breastfeeding after discussion with your doctor. It is generally considered safe, and there is no clear evidence found in the clinical data to harm the baby.
Driving
Driving after taking the Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine does not affect or interfere with driving ability or disturb while operating machinery. However, if you get a fever or dizziness after the injection, avoid driving until you feel better.
Kidney
The Boostrix 0.5ml Vaccine is considered safe for people with kidney problems, including individuals on dialysis.
