Overview
Spexib 150mg Capsule is an anticancer formulation. It is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is available in the form of capsules with a strength of 150mg. This Capsule belongs to a class of medicines known as protein kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the activity of an abnormal protein that helps the cancer cells multiply in the body.
Non-small cell lung cancer
Ceritinib is the active ingredient of Spexib. Spexib 150mg Capsule works by inhibiting Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), also called ALK tyrosine kinase receptor or simply CD246 (cluster of differentiation 246). Nearly 4-5% of NSCLCs comprise a chromosomal rearrangement that is responsible for the generation of a fusion gene between EML4 (echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4) and ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase), leading to constitutive kinase activity that further contributes to carcinogenesis and is thought to drive the malignant phenotype.
