Lenalidomide is an immunomodulator having anticancer, antiangiogenic, and anti-inflammatory effects. Lenalidomide causes direct cytotoxicity in hematological malignant cells by enhancing apoptosis and reducing proliferation. It inhibits tumor growth in vivo in nonclinical hematological tumor models, such as multiple myeloma. Lenalidomide also serves to prevent invasion or metastasis of tumor cells and inhibits angiogenesis.
