Irinotel 100mg injection is a chemotherapy medication that is used in the treatment of colon and rectum cancer. The generic name of this injection is Irinotecan and it is an antineoplastic enzyme inhibitor.
Colon and Rectum Cancer
Irinotel is an enzyme inhibitor as it blocks the action of topoisomerase I. This enzyme is necessary for DNA replication. As this medication binds to the DNA – topoisomerase complex it consequently stops the replication. It also leads to damaged DNA which triggers cell death. In addition, it showcases antineoplastic properties as it stops the cell growth and metastasis of the tumor cells.
Irinotel 100mg injection may cause some serious and unwanted side effects that require immediate medical attention otherwise it can also lead to higher risk. Do not forget to discuss the risks and benefits of this medication with your doctor.
