Overview
Antigen (NS-1) test helps to detect the non-structural protein NS1 of the dengue virus. This test is recommended to the patient in the first seven days of the symptoms and not after that. Whereas the Antibody (IgG and IgM) test helps to diagnose a current or recent infection. Positive IgM and IgG results for dengue antibodies that are detected in an initial blood sample of the patient mean that it is likely that the person got the infection due to the dengue virus within a few recent weeks.
