Overview
Abiraterone acetate is a hormone therapy medicine that is used to treat prostate cancer, mostly in adult men. It is used in the early stage with testosterone-lowering treatment. This medicine is not prescribed to pregnant women and children.
Prostate Cancer
In many prostate cancers, testosterone stimulates the uncontrollable growth of cancer cells in the patient's body. Abione tablets prevent the production of androgen which is a male hormone. Thus, Abione will be inhibiting an enzyme (CYP17) responsible for androgen production in males. As a result, it stops the growth and spreading of the cancer cells.
The patients are advised to follow the prescription as advised by the doctor for fast recovery. Abione 250mg tablet should be taken on an empty stomach. The food should not be taken before 2 hours and 1 hour after the consumption of this tablet.
