Iressa 250mg Tablet is a member of the class of medications known as "anti-cancer" and is mostly prescribed to treat lung cancer. Gefitinib, an ingredient in Iressa 250mg Tablet, is a member of the class of medications known as "kinase inhibitors."

It functions by preventing an abnormal protein from causing malignant cells to proliferate. It prevents the spread of malignant cells in this way.  A chemotherapeutic drug called Iressa 250mg is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

The generic name for this drug is gefitinib. It is an inhibitor of tyrosine kinase with antitumor properties. Iressa is used as a first-line treatment for genetically mutated lung cancer.

How It Works

​Iressa 250mg Tablet functions by stopping the working of EGFR tyrosine kinase, which binds to the ATP binding site of the enzyme. EGFR refers to epidermal growth factor receptor and is often overexpressed in cancerous cells, leading to stimulation of anti-apoptotic signals.

Additionally, it causes cell proliferation as well. Iressa has antineoplastic activity, thus it stops the growth and spreading of cancerous cells.
