Overview

Mekinist (Trametinib) is used in the treatment of metastatic melanoma (skin cancer that has spread to other areas of the body). This medicine comes in the form of tablets. This medicine has to be taken orally. This medication works by slowing the growth of cancer cells. Do not take this medicine in the wrong way as it may lead to some severe side effects. Take this medicine according to your doctor’s dosing schedule.  It is advisable not to change or stop the dose without taking suggestions from the doctor. If you experience any symptoms while receiving this medicine, inform your doctor immediately. Protect this medicine from heat and light. 

Pharmacodynamics of Mekinist (Trametinib)

Trametinib is a reversible inhibitor of the mitogen-activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 (MEK1) and MEK2 activation and MEK1 and MEK2 kinase activity. After the oral administration of Trametinib, the effect of this medicine can be absorbed in 1.5 hours.

Dosage

Usage of Mekinist (Trametinib) 

Mekinist (Trametinib) is a cancer medicine. This medicine interferes with the growth and spread and cancer cells in the body. It is also used in combination with another medicine to treat thyroid cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. Take this medicine on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after the meals. Take this medication at the same time of the day to get the most benefits from it. Your doctor will set your dosing schedule according to your medical conditions and response to the treatment.
