Olanib 150mg tablets (Olanib 50mg) is a target therapy medication. It is used in the treatment of ovarian cancer along with fallopian and peritoneal cancers. In addition, it is also used to treat breast cancer and prostate cancer in men. The generic name of this medication is Olaparib and it is a potent PARP inhibitor.

Pharmacodynamics

Olanib tablets inhibit the function of PARP enzymes. PARP stands for poly ADP-ribose polymerase enzymes that are needed for basic cellular functions like DNA transcription and repair. As Olanib inhibits this enzyme it consequently leads to the accumulation of toxic DNA damage. This furthermore leads to genomic instability and triggers cell death.  Also, it increases the formation of the PARP-DNA complex which stops the growth of cancerous cells.

Olanib 50mg (or 150mg) tablets are prescription based. It is used for the treatment of ovarian, peritoneal, fallopian, and breast cancer.
