Telura (Lamivudine + Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate + Efavirenz) tablet is a combination of three antiretroviral medications. It is used for the treatment of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. This medication belongs to a class of medication known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Telura tablet boosts your immune system to fight against infection and prevents the virus from multiplying. It is important to take this medicine as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is advisable not to change your regular dosing schedule without taking suggestions from your doctor.
Lamivudine (Telura):- A nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) and Hepatitis B (HBV) to disrupt viral DNA synthesis. It can form active metabolites when phosphorylated, that compete for incorporation into viral DNA. Via DNA incorporation, lamivudine metabolites inhibit the activity of the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme and then act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis.
Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (Telura):- is an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate diester analog of adenosine monophosphate. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate requires initial diester hydrolysis for conversion to tenofovir and subsequent phosphorylations by cellular enzymes to form tenofovir diphosphate. It inhibits the activity of HIV-1 RT by competing with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine 5′-triphosphate and, after incorporation into DNA, by DNA chain termination.
Efavirenz (Telura):- belongs to the NNRTI (non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors) class of antiretrovirals. Both nucleoside and non-nucleoside RTIs (reverse transcriptase inhibitors) inhibit the same target, the reverse transcriptase enzyme, an essential viral enzyme that transcribes viral RNA into DNA. It is not effective against HIV-2, as the pocket of the HIV-2 reverse transcriptase has a different structure, which confers intrinsic resistance to the NNRTI class.
Telura tablet is a combination of three anti-HIV medicines: Lamivudine, Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, and Efavirenz. This medication is not a permanent cure for HIV infection. It only prevents the multiplication of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in human cells. The recommended dose of Telura medicine is decided by a doctor according to your previous medical condition and response to the treatment. If you experience any signs and symptoms while receiving the Telura tablet, inform your doctor immediately.
