Venetoclax promotes rapid and extensive apoptosis of CLL cells, which can happen in 24 hours and result in tumor lysis syndrome. Patients with relapsed CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) or SLL (small lymphocytic leukemia), even those with poor prognostic features, responded well to venetoclax, a drug that selectively targets BCL2.
