Overview XOVOLTIB 40MG TABLET

Xovoltib is a chemotherapy medicine that is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer. Afatinib is the generic name of this medication. It is a 4-anilinoquinazoline tyrosine kinase that has antineoplastic activities.

Pharmacodynamics

Xovoltib is used as a first-line treatment for non-small cell lung cancer which has EGFR mutations. EGFR stands for epidermal growth factor receptor. Some mutations that occur in EGFR stimulate cell proliferation in lung cancer. Xovoltib binds irreversibly to EGFR and as a result, down-regulates its signals. It furthermore stops cell proliferation and shrinking of the tumours. In addition, it blocks phosphorylation and triggers cell death in the cancer cells.
