Description
Soliris comprises Eculizumab as its active salt. It is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits the cleavage of complement protein C5 into C5a and C5b, as well as the development of the terminal complement complex C5b-9. Complement-mediated intravascular hemolysis in paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, complement-mediated microangiopathy in atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, and immune-mediated inflammation and central nervous system damage in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder are all prevented by inhibiting this complex.
