Overview
The antiretroviral drug Trioday is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents weighing over 35 kg. This medication contains Efavirenz, Lamivudine, and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate and stops the virus from replicating, reduces viral load in the body, and boosts the immune response by increasing the number of CD4 cells. Trioday tablet manages infections and decreases chances of contracting secondary diseases but does not act as a cure or reduce chances of spreading the infection. Regular use of the medicine as prescribed can prevent drug resistance. Common side effects are headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and tiredness. Caution is advised in patients with kidney, liver, or bone problems.

Dosage and Administration
Take Trioday exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the recommended dose and duration. Swallow the tablet whole without chewing, crushing, or breaking it, and make sure to take it on an empty stomach.
Mechanism of Action
The Trioday Tablet consists of three medications, namely, efavirenz, lamivudine, and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. These medications act synergistically to prevent the replication of HIV. Efavirenz acts on the reverse transcriptase enzyme, altering its structure and thus inhibiting its function. Lamivudine and tenofovir act as nucleotide analogs and are incorporated into viral DNA resulting in chain termination and inhibition of further replication. They reduce the viral load of HIV in the body, they help the immune system to recover (by increasing the number of CD4 cells) and they reduce the risk of infections and other complications associated with HIV.
Missed dosage
If you miss a dose of Trioday Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular routine. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for the missed dose.
