The Biovac A 0.5ml vaccine protects the individual from hepatitis A, which is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is spread by contaminated water or food or close personal contact with the infected person. The vaccine contains live attenuated hepatitis A virus. The Biovac A 0.5ml Vaccine is injected subcutaneously, typically into the upper arm muscle (deltoid), which results in the production of antibodies against the virus without causing the disease. This vaccine is not for other liver diseases or hepatitis B, C, or E. It can be used for both adults and children above the age of 1 year. How To Use
The Biovac A 0.5ml vaccine contains live attenuated hepatitis A virus and is meant for both children and adults. The single 0.5 ml dose is given subcutaneously. For children and adults, the vaccine is administered in the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, while for children under 1 year of age, the injection is given in the anterolateral aspect of the thigh. A booster dose of 0.5 ml is not recommended, as long-term immunity is provided from the primary dose of Biovac A 0.5ml vaccine. The vaccine should not be self-administered; it should not be given intradermally, intravascularly, or subcutaneously by healthcare experts. Do not use the same injection or syringe for another vaccine, as there is are chance of product interacting. Always check the vial of vaccine before using it for discoloration or any kind of particulate matter, and shake well for uniform mixing of the product.
How It Works
The Biovac A 0.5ml Vaccine contains live attenuated hepatitis A virus (HAV) that stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against the virus but doesn’t cause disease. These antibodies and memory cells formed after taking the injection identify and counteract the virus and generate memory for the hepatitis virus, and neutralize it with a stronger immune response upon subsequent exposure within a few hours. This provides immunity within 2 to 4 weeks, and for many years, no booster dose is required.
