How It Works
Pentavac 0.5ml is a vaccine that contains the toxoid of tetanus, diphtheria, the surface antigen of hepatitis B, and the whole cell of pertussis bacteria, all of which are adsorbed on an adjuvant made of aluminum to trigger the immune response.
When this vaccine is given to an individual then it stimulates the immune system to produce specific antibodies against the toxins, but doesn’t cause disease. These antibodies and memory cells formed after taking the injection identify and counteract the toxins and generate memory for it, and neutralize it with a stronger immune response upon subsequent exposure within a few hours. This provides immunity within 2 to 4 weeks and for many years.
